When Charles Dickens wrote Oliver Twist beginning in January of 1837, he wrote it in installments and intended for his audience to read it that way. As intrepid AP Senior English students, you will have the opportunity to read this novel as it was originally intended. For the next 24 weeks we will discuss the latest installment of Oliver Twist as indicated by the table below. Some weeks we will discuss the installment in class using a seminar format. Some weeks we will discuss the installment on-line, using the Mrs. Baggett's Neighborhood Message Board. Starting with the first session, each of you will be expected to write a Dialectical Journal or a Reading Analysis entry for each installment we discuss in class, due at the beginning of class on the day of our discussion. The requirements for the Message Board discussions include at least 3 entries on three different topics in the forum, plus at least 3 responses to others' entries. You should also read ALL of the entries and responses for all the topics on the forum for that installment. Finally, you must make your entries/responses on at least 3 different days before the due date. As we investigate Oliver Twist installment by installment, you are expected to do four things:
